Our company name, 'Plimsoll', refers to Samuel Plimsoll, best known for his efforts in introducing a safe loading line for merchant ships in the 19th Century. What does that have to do with industry analysis? The visual principle invented by Samuel Plimsoll to ensure the safe loading level of ships was the inspiration to the founder of Plimsoll. He saw that a similar method could be used to give early warning signs of danger within a company. He wanted a standardised model which would indicate to the reader at a glance the financial wellbeing of any company, without the need for accounting or specialist financial knowledge.

Since 1986, we have developed the Plimsoll model further to meet the needs of the busy decision maker. It now allows you to instantly evaluate the financial performance of a company. Each company in our industry analyses receives a full page of analysis, the Plimsoll chart being the key to each company's financial performance over the last five years.

Now in our 20th year, Plimsoll continues to go from strength to strength. We recently moved to a brand new riverside development, enabling us to house our growing workforce as we spread the power of Plimsoll across the globe.
